The following pages represent an attempt to determine some of the key challenges that Macedonian higher education is faced with. To this end, measurable parameters have been chosen. Namely, the goal is to find answers to the following questions: Is higher education autonomous, and if it is, then to what extent? In what way do the institutions in the country implement higher education policy? Is the number of universities in the country justified? Do the teaching staff and the educational programs in the higher education institutions in the country provide sufficient quality? Comparing the teaching and professionalism in private and state higher education institutions,
what can be said about their quality?
