The Konrad Adenauer Foundation in cooperation with the “Euro-Balkan” University, Skopje, and the five religious communities in the Republic of Macedonia are organizing a summer school in Skopje with the title “Religion, Ethnicity and Nationalism” in the period between 15 - 19 September 2014.
The main objective of this summer school is shifting the status quo concerning the civic perception of religious, national and cultural differences among the academic youth in the Republic of Macedonia. Additionally the summer school aims to contribute to the increasing of public awareness of the role, importance and functions of the different cultural profiles in the living conditions of societal, intercultural and democratic reality in the country.
The target group of the seminar consists of academic youth aged 18 - 28, who is interested in the topic and comes from the Orthodox Faculty of Theology, Faculty of Islamic Science and the Faculties of Social Sciences (Philosophy, Philology, Law, Political Science, Journalism etc.).
Through lectures, open debates, workshops, study visits of religious objects and direct contacts, the participants will be provided with an interdisciplinary approach of study and research of the complex problems that the country faces with particular emphasis on issues that directly concern the stability and sustainability of inter-ethnic and inter-religious dialogue in the country.
All expenses for the summer school are covered by the organizers. For participants coming from outside Skopje expenses for travel and accommodation will be covered.
