The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and the Institute for Democracy “Societas Civilis” are organizing the conference on the topic “Media and freedom of expression” in Skopje, Hotel Stone Bridge on 12th June, 10.00 a. m.
On this occasion, there will be also the official presentation of the 38. edition of the political quarterly “Political Thought – Politicka Misla” . The topic of the new edition is ,,Media and freedom of expression,, and it deals with the current situation of the media landscape in the Republic of Macedonia.
Democracy does not exist without a free and independent media. The right for the freedom of expression that is established in modern constitutions needs to be defended constantly. Anyone wishing to support a democratization progress must promote the development of free and independent media and defend them every day. For Macedonia`s democracy and for the country’s EU integration process, freedom of expression is very important. Due to the fact that the European Commission expressed some concerns about the media situation in its last Progress Report, we would therefore like to offer a space for discussion. At this promotion of the new edition state officials and experts in the field of media in Macedonia will discuss their views on the challenges and perspectives of the country’s media landscape. They will exchange their point of views on what has already been done and what still needs to be improved.
