The theme of this year's SEEMF is "Media in South East Europe: Not enough or too much information?". Discussions will cover the right to access information, data journalism, privacy and the protection of sources, self-regulation and standards of quality reporting. A session will also be dedicated to opinion making in times of conflict and will discuss the lessons of the media war in Ukraine.
During the opening ceremony, the "CEI SEEMO Award for Investigative Journalism" 2014 will be granted: SEEMO Secretary General Oliver Vujović, Margit Wästfelt, Alternate Secretary General of CEI and Christian Spahr, Head of the KAS Media Program South East Europe, award Brankica Stanković (section "Professional Journalists") as well as Sadeta Fišić, Jovana Kljajić and Maida Salkanović (section "Young Professional Journalists"). A special mention will be given to the Ukrainian reporter Anna Babinets.
At the occasion of SEEMF, Christian Spahr will present a new regional web portal for media experts, initiated by KAS Media Program South East Europe.
The SEEMF has been organised annually since 2007 und is nowadays the biggest media event in South East Europe. More than 250 media experts from 20 countries took part in the SEEMF 2013 in Sarajevo. Previous forums took place in Budva (2012), Belgrade (2011), Budapest (2010), Tirana (2009), Sofia (2008) and Zagreb (2007).
