On October 2-3, BuildPalestine’s first ever Social Innovation Summit will bring together the global Palestinian community under the banner of “Radical Imagination”. Over the course of two days, participants will join 40+ panelists to engage in a series of online discussions with the goal of breaking beyond current paradigms, re-imagining what is possible, and laying the groundwork for tangible change.
Speakers include policy makers, journalists, philanthropists, investors, athletes, artists, authors, and health professionals. They will tackle a range of diverse topics from “Overcoming donor-dependency: How can philanthropy tackle the root-cause?” to “Art as a form of resistance: the power of music and visual art.”
Originally planned to be an in-person event, hosted in Ramallah, the Summit shifted to an online gathering due to the global COVID-19 pandemic. “Being online gives us a unique opportunity to engage with the global community that is invested in seeing a better future for Palestine. This includes the diaspora, as well as allies,” explains Besan Abu-Joudeh, CEO of BuildPalestine. “Our mission is all about connecting and engaging Palestinians everywhere with the social innovation happening at home. We want participants to join the conversation and leave feeling inspired and ready to take action.”
BuildPalestine Board Chair, Sara Husseini, adds: “Right now, we are seeing resilient communities all over the world standing up against centuries-old injustices that have resulted in deep systemic inequalities. Times like these give us an opportunity to re-imagine our own future as Palestinians, and our role as human beings in the wider world.”
The Summit will take place on October 2-3. All sessions will be simultaneously translated in English and Arabic. Tickets are available from BuildPalestine’s website: http://summit.ps/
