Specialist conference
Details
85% of the staff working for NGOs believe that the spread of corruption and bribery is a serious problem in the Palestinian NGO-sector. More than half (58%) regards the work of NGOs as ineffective.
In order to combat the widely spread corruption and to support the strengthening of the Palestinian civil society, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Ramallah and its local partner AMAN (Coalition for Accountability and Integrity) jointly carry out the Nazaha-project.
In the framework of this project, a Code of Conduct has recently been completed, which contains auditing and transparency vis à vis the public. Thus, strict standards concerning integrity, accountability and transparency shall be implemented in the Palestinian NGO-sector. The completion of the code of conduct in cooperation with a diversified coalition of Palestinian NGOs is an important step towards effectively combating corruption in the Palestinian Autonomous Territories.
The Code of Conduct will be presented to a broad public at a conference on July, 10th. In a subsequent ceremony, various Palestinian NGOs from different realms of the NGO-sector will sign the respective code of conduct.
