Event reports
During the crowded meeting the audience criticized the role of the PLC, in its last year, by raising the issues of the absence of legislation, supervision, and addressing the crisis of division.
The audience stressed that the political divide, between Fatah and Hamas, has blocked the work of the PLC and the principle of popular representation at the same time; which led to the fact that the Executive Body -the Government- has a de-facto monopole of power.
The audience was made up of PLC members, Fatah Central Council members, Fatah Revolutionary Council Members and Media representatives.
The outcome of the meeting was a number of recommendations which the coming PLC should take into consideration. These recommendations will be published in the “Performance of the Palestinian Legislative Council 2009,” booklet, which MIFATH and KAS are going to publish at the end of this month.
