Event reports
On November 11, 2016, the Institute for Community Partnership (ICP) in cooperation with Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung Palestinian Territories invited former students of the Public Administration Diploma to an alumni meeting at Bethlehem University. More than one hundred alumni and representatives of the program gathered in order to evaluate the last ten years of the course and to develop ideas to further improve it for future students.
The ICP’s Public Diploma Program is a one year course certified and ratified by the Ministry for Higher Education and is one of a kind in Palestine. Directed at local government officers and public administration employees on the operational level, the program is taught in eight modules: Constitutional Law and Administration, Human Resource Management, Administration Code of Conduct, Budgeting, Collaboration between Public and Private Sector, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Best Practices.
The student’s general feedback was very positive, in fact 90% stated to be satisfied with the program. Bethlehem Governor Deputy Fuad Juha, student in 2012, said “this program allowed me to get a better position and to bring my career to the next stage.” Nonetheless, students identified a necessity for a Human Resource Development module and asked for decentralization of the program to other regions in Palestine, especially the north. Overall, the meeting was very fruitful and a great success.
