Street Summit: Khan Al-Ahmar Village

A "Street Summit" was organized in Khan Al-Ahmar Village in the Jerusalem Governorate. Civil society representatives, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee, Jerusalemite youth, and Palestinian and international supporters from all over the West Bank attended the Summit to support the resilience of the village and highlight the aspect of development in Jerusalem. The Summit was part of a series of events, organized by PalVision. Previous events have been a capacity building workshop, the writing of three position papers together with Jerusalemite Youth and the organization and implementation of a large scale opinion survey concerning political participation in East Jerusalem.

Khan al-Ahmar is a Bedouin community of 35 families that is located between the Israeli settlements of Ma'ale Adumim and Kfar Adumim in the West Bank. In May 2018,The Israeli High Court of Justice permitted the demolition of the village and evacuation of its residents. And since then, the village has been has been facing this threat. A wide international support was provided to the villagers. The United Nations, the International Criminal Court, the European Parliament and Amnesty International have stated that the demolition of the village would be a violation of international law.
