The activity was held at the Federation of Free Workers (FFW) Union Hall, FFW Building, 1943 Taft Avenue, Manila. It was participated by top ranking leaders of centrist-oriented unions based mostly in the National Capital Region.
Atty. Allan Montano, the founding Chairperson of the CDLA welcomed the participants and gave them a brief overview of the day’s activities. Dr. Peter Koeppinger, KAS Resident Representative then gave a short message emphasizing the importance of interest-based negotiations as an important tool for labor sector associations in articulating their sector’s interests and translating these into worthwhile policies and actions.
Key resource persons include former Department of Labor and Employment Secretary and current Dean of the Asian Institute of Management, Hon. Nieves Confesor and FFW Vice President for External Affairs, Mr. Antonio Asper.
Hon. Confesor discussed the basics of Strategic Negotiations and Conflict Management. A series of workshop activities were integrated into the session to allow participants to practice immediately the set of concepts that were presented. Mr. Asper presented the relevance of acquiring the skills of interest-based negotiations in the practice and promotion of Centrist Democracy. Atty. Montano, then presented the roles and functions of the CDLA, enjoining all labor leaders present to join the sector association.
