"The Filipino Youth and National Competitiveness Workshop" will provide a platform to explore how national competitiveness impacts opportunities for young people, economic growth, and innovation. Through discussions and engaging activities, participants will gain valuable knowledge on how they can contribute to a more competitive and prosperous nation.
The Philippines has a relatively young population, with about 28 percent of the population comprised of those aged 15-24. On the other hand, the youth in the Philippines face challenges such as, but not limited to income inequality, unequal access to education and health services and unemployment. As the youth is said to be among the key drivers of innovation, social change, and economic growth, it is high time for the country to include the youth in the discussion on what national competitiveness is and should be about.
The objectives of this workshop are:
- To facilitate discussion among the youth about competitiveness in the Philippine and global contexts,
- To recognize the contribution of the youth to national development, and
- To empower the youth to actively engage with different stakeholders to make Philippines a more competitive economy.
