Keeping with KAS tradition of supporting young generations, we start 2018 strong with Young Leaders of Local Communities Academy, this time in the historical and dynamic city of Krakow, together with MEP Róża Thun and under the patronage of Jacek Krupa, Marshal of the Małopolska Region.
From February 21st until the 25th, we'll provide knowledge and training to over 100 young centre-right Europeans from all corners of the continent. The first day will be spent at the at one of the oldest military airfields in Europe, the Polish Aviation Museum. There we will be treated to dinner and several interventions by experts such as accomplished diplomat Ryszard Schnepf, former Ambassador of Poland to Spain and the United States.
During the second day, we'll be focusing on crowdsourcing with workshops by the Ernst & Young, followed by a panel at Krakow's Main Square on European diversity and whether or not it can be used to our advantage. Speakers range from distinguished academics to both European and national politicians. Another debate will follow suit, this time on the attractiveness of living in cities for young Europeans. Shortly after we will enjoy dinner at the UNESCO World Heritage site of Sukiennice, Krakow's Rennaissance cloth hall located in the main square.
Throughout the third day, we'll start with a panel on the role of the EU in today's global economy at a beautiful art garden that serves a cultural centre for the region, by renowned politicians and experts from the EPP Group. We will then host a promising debate with Rafał Trzaskowski EPP Vice President and Member of Parliament. Then, we are to be transported to the famous Wieliczka salt mine, where we will take a tour 1km below ground. After that, high-level addresses will be given by Radosław Sikorski, Senior Fellow at Harvard University and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tony Housh, Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Poland and Elżbieta Bieńkowska, European Commissioner for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs.
The fourth day's focal point will be the role of young leaders shaping the future of Europe. We're delighted to have distinguished speakers such as MEP Roża Thun and MEP Danuta Hübner. Debates on resolutions will follow and the farewell dinner will take place at Stara Zajezdnia, and abandoned tram depot turned into one of Poland's biggest breweries and beer halls.
And last but not least, before we let you go home, we will be holding a meeting at the Holiday Inn with Member of Parliament Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, head of the Polish People's Party.
