Exploring Electoral Systems and Democratic Practices in SE Europe

The KAS RLPSEE is hosting a dynamic, international conference on December 20-22 in Chisinau, bringing together legal experts, policymakers, and academics to examine electoral systems and democratic practices across the region.
The first day will feature an in-depth look at electoral systems in Romania and Bulgaria, campaign finance in Romania, and a case study on the Republic of Moldova's electoral experience from the recent elections. Other panels will include representatives from international organizations such as the OSCE and Venice Commission.
For the second day, discussions will shift to electoral systems in Albania, Kosovo, Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and beyond, offering comparative insights and exploring good practices and challenges. A highlight includes examining lessons from ancient democratic practices in Athens and Rome.
On the final day, the invited partners, and authors, will focus on workshops to harmonize electoral legislation with EU standards and foster regional cooperation.
With a robust agenda and diverse speakers from all the above mentioned countries, this event promises to deepen understanding and inspire innovative approaches to democratic governance in the region.
