In our new podcast "Rule of Law Rules" we talk to international experts about opportunities and challenges for human rights in the digital age. We take a look at the different regions of the world focussing on “Legal Tech” and the access to justice.

“Rule of Law Rules” is our podcast on Rule of Law in the age of digitalization from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. The host of the podcast is Dr Angela Daly, a socio-legal scholar of digital technology. In each episode she interviews one international expert about the opportunities and challenges for human rights in the digital age. We will gain insights into recent developments from different parts of the world.

After getting an overview of the latest regulations on “Data Protection” around the world in our first six episodes, now we want to focus on “Legal Tech” and the access to justice.

In our last episode on legal technology and the access to justice we focus on the region of Southeast Europe. Ivan Rašić is our expert. He works at “Start it smart”, the biggest entrepreneurship club in Bulgaria. Their goal is to spread the entrepreneurship culture and way of thinking among the young people. In Ivans earlier career he started a legal tech company after working in law firms. Our guest gives us insights into the latest developments of legal tech and its influence in the region.

In our penultimate episode on legal technology and the access to justice we take a closer look at Southeast Asia. Our guest is Hannah Lim. She is Head of Rule of Law and Emerging Markets at LexisNexis in Singapore. Hannah works with governments to identify areas where LexisNexis can leveraging on technology and support the rule of law. Before that she was a corporate lawyer in Myanmar, developing the Myanmar legal practice of two Singapore law firms. Hannah is called to the New York State Bar and the Singapore Bar. She is also a mediator accredited by the Singapore Mediation . We speak with her about legal tech and its influence in the region.

This month our guest is Dr Rene Fernando Urueña. He is a lawyer (Abogado) and an Associate Professor at the Universidad de los Andes in Colombia. He holds a Master Degree in Public International Law and is a specialist in economics. Together we take a closer look at Latin America and speak with him about Legal Technology in his region.

This time we talk to Nico Kuhlmann. Nico is a German legal tech lawyer and an Associate in Hogan Lovells Hamburg office. He advises major technology companies in national and international disputes with a focus on intellectual property law. Our expert is also responsible for some of Hogan Lovells Legal Tech projects, including the Hamburg Legal Tech Meetup, the Hogan Lovells Legal Tech Competition and the Hogan Lovells Legal Tech Hackathon.
