The Leaders for Justice program mainly consists of two one-week seminars, the first one to be held in Beirut, Lebanon from the 03rd - 07th of June, 2025, and the second one in Berlin, Germany from the 06th - 10th of October, 2025. Beyond these two weeks there will be a few additional group meetings and events throughout the year 2025 in Beirut.

What’s to expect?

During the year, participants of the program will mainly pursue personal, but also group and legal developments skills.

Personal development skills are personal attributes, personality traits, social cues and other abilities that can be enhanced in a self-improvement process in order to reach personal (professional) goals. They are paramount for the individual professional, as well as social growth, especially when it comes to the legal community. Legal professionals are expected to tackle complex legal issues and to solve them in a timely and effective manner. The legal community is built on knowledge, trust and care, and one that has the duty to serve, lead and to empower. In this context, problem-solving, interpersonal, organizational and communicational skills are critical.

Participants in the Leaders for Justice program will spend two weeks working on such professional skills. The program will include workshop sessions on creativity and working on a (personal) vision, team-leading and teamwork, communication skills, decision-making and change-management, all within the context of the rule of law.

You will learn from the knowledge and experience of international experts and guests, and share best practices in order to expand your professional horizons.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for bright young jurists, who are motivated, dedicated and believe in the rule of law; we are looking for engaging individuals who want to work on not only their own legal pathway in the Middle East, but – most importantly – also want to support and actively strengthen the rule of law system in both Lebanon and the region, and are ready to work for the better of others.

The application is open to Lebanese law students in the last year of their masters, postgraduate and PhD students, as well as young (max. 34 years old, with an exception for active judges: max. 36 years old) legal professionals (judges, prosecutors, lawyers, notaries, legal councilors, jurists in NGOs or private sector, university lecturers, etc.). Working knowledge in both English and Arabic is required.

How do you apply?

Applications should be sent in English to info.mena@kas.de and paul.saadeh@kas.de by the 07th of March 2025, 23:59. Subject line of the e-mail should be: “Application – Leaders for Justice 2025”. Incomplete applications or applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.

To apply, please send the following documents written in English as one PDF-file:

  • a curriculum vitae (CV) with a photo (no longer than 2 pages!),
  • a letter of motivation (no longer than 2 pages!),
  • a filled-out questionnaire form (see "Download" attachment).

The application process is as follows:

  1. 07.03.2025: application deadline
  2. 10.03.2025 - 11.04.2025: pre-selection phase
  3. 21.04.2025 - 02.05.2025: Interviews in person

Up to 12 applications will be selected. Successful applicants will be informed by the 09th of May. It is worth noting that the program will be in English and Arabic, the two official languages of this program. Applicants are encouraged to apply early.

Finally, please note (once more):

  • Please send all the requested documents as one document in PDF format.
  • As an act of commitment and integrity, the participation in all the sessions is compulsory, without exception.
  • We are communicating the dates of the workshops beforehand, so you can check and block your calendar ahead of time.
  • If selected, KAS will bear the cost of all necessary accommodation, meals, transportation from and to the airport, flight tickets and visa fees.

For any questions, feel free to reach out to Mr. Paul Saadeh (Project Manager), responsible for the organization of the program, at paul.saadeh@kas.de.

We look forward to hearing from you and to welcoming 12 of you to the third crew of our Leaders for Justice program!
