This prestigious event, taking place on October 3d, 2024, will bring together distinguished presidents of constitutional courts from the region, constitutional judges, experts, and scholars from Lebanon.

This year’s symposium holds special significance as we celebrate 30 years since the establishment of the Lebanese Constitutional Council, recognizing its pivotal role in safeguarding constitutional justice and upholding the rule of law.

The Symposium will feature the following panel discussions:

  • Panel 1: The Authority and Boundaries of the Interpretation of the Constitution
  • Panel 2: Jurisdiction of Constitutional Councils on Electoral Disputes under Separation of Powers
  • Panel 3: Appointment Processes and Protections for Constitutional Council Members
  • Panel 4: Constitutional Courts: An Adjudicator Between Authorities or a Protector of Individual Rights

These panels will address critical issues in constitutional law, focusing on interpretation of constitutions, electoral disputes, judicial independence, and the role of constitutional courts in balancing authority and individual rights.
