Through a series of focus groups (conducted by the polling organisation IRES), participants expressed deep dissatisfaction with the political class, citing corruption, inefficiency and lack of transparency as key concerns. The analysis highlights the increasing alienation between the government and its citizens, the decline in the quality of public services and the perceived decline in professionalism in key institutions such as healthcare and education.

At the centre of the discussions was a call for more active, communicative and competent leadership. Participants expressed a desire for a president who puts the interests of the country above external influences, reflects the values of the people and leads with integrity. Many called for a cultural change in politics and pleaded for new leaders who are free from cronyism and corruption. In addition, in rural areas, conservative values such as patriotism and faith were emphasised as important components of national identity and future direction.

This study provides an insight into the widespread dissatisfaction with the status quo and highlights both the hopes and challenges facing the Romanian population. It serves as an important tool to understand the country's mood and citizens' expectations as the country prepares for upcoming elections and possible reforms.

The full analysis is only available in Romanian and English.
