In the panel discussion, Dr. Alema, Deputy Minister of the State Ministry of Peace, and Nasrullah Arsalai, Senior Advisor and Provincial Affairs Representative of the High Council for National Reconciliation (HCNR), each gave their views on the current status of the peace process, recent developments in Doha, Moscow, and Kabul, and the upcoming Turkey Peace Conference.
In the discussion that followed, there was much controversy about the role and strategy of the Afghan government, the United States and the international community in the peace process.
The Afghan-German Roundtable in Kabul
There is a large and diverse community of Afghan-German and German-speaking Afghans in Kabul. At the request of the network, the office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation has taken on the coordination and revival of Afghan-German Roundtable in 2019.
The Afghan-German Roundtable is a monthly meeting to maintain the Afghan-German community in Kabul and its connection to the German Embassy. It serves to get to know each other, discuss and exchange ideas on various topics of Afghan-German relations.
The language at the Roundtable is German.
Meetings are informal and confidential, according to Chatham House rules.
