Workshop
Details
The approach of dealing with important socio-political issues by involving representatives of religious communities in Tanzania recently proved effective once more. In the framework of an interreligious dialogue, accompanied by KAS, the leaders discuss and develop strategies on how they can contribute in solving these issues e.g. by showing their presence during the constitutional reform process or in fighting climate change.
To promote the cooperation of faith-based organisations and further strengthen religious peace in Tanzania, the leaders of religious communities shall be sensibilised concerning their tasks in and their responsibility for the interreligious dialogue. Their special role in promoting respectful and tolerant behaviour with one another is manifested through their particular high influence on their followers.
Therefore the workshop aims not only at strengthening regional management structures of the Association of Quran Teachers JUWAQUTA in the region of Dar es Salaam, but also at encouraging the leaders to discuss their understanding of their own role within and outside of the muslim community. Representatives of the youth wing and the women's organisation of BAKWATA, the umbrella organisation of Muslims in Tanzania, will also attend the workshop and are invited to express their expectations towards themselves and towards the Quran teachers. The event will focus on how the role of leaders of muslim communities can be sustained in the interreligious as well as the public dialogue.
