For more than a year the Constitutional Review Commission, named after its chairman also known as Warioba Commission toured through Tanzania to gather opinions and suggestions of the population towards the new Constitution. A few days ago it was done: the Commission presented the first draft.
Until August 2013, the general public now has the opportunity to send comments, criticisms, and opinions on the draft to the Commission and thus further participate in the reform process. On 12.06.2013, the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung in cooperation with the Friedrich Ebert Foundation and the Tanzania Constitution Forum Jukwaa la Katiba therefore brings together representatives of civil society organizations for a brainstorming and a first analysis of the draft. The focus will be on strengths and weaknesses of the draft as well as the question of whether expectations of the population have been met.
