The reason for the visit was the participation of the Ugandan delegation in the "20th International Gathering" in Berlin, following an invitation by the president of the German Bundestag Norbert Lammert and members of parliament from different parliamentary groups. The group from Uganda had the chance to engage in value based dialogue with German delegates and political representatives from all over the world under the motto of the gathering, "Responsibility before God and Humankind". In regards to Africa, especially the issues of refugees, conflict, and population growth were discussed. During the discussion, Uganda's exemplary and progressive refugee policies were emphasized.
Also part of the programme were, among others, meetings at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs during which the German-Uganda relationship and current political developments in Uganda were discussed. Furthermore, the visiting group had the possibility to gain insights into the work of KAS in Uganda and all over the world during discussions with Dr. Wolfgang Maier, Deputy Head of the Department for European and International Cooperation of KAS, and Peter Girke, Desk Officer for East Africa and Coordinator of the global Rule of Law Programme.
