20 years ago the United States and the European Union announced a „New Transatlantic Agenda“. Russia and Ukraine were to become partners on security issues. With the annexation of Crimea and the ongoing conflict in Eastern Ukraine the transatlantic partnership has become beyond doubt of essential importance for Ukraine, while Russia in contrast is talking of a “new Cold War”. In this new context a new transatlantic vision seems more important than ever.
During the two-day conference, government officials and key civil society actors from Ukraine, the European Union, and the United States will discuss a new transatlantic agenda, Ukraine's standing in it and crucial problems as well as perspective of the transatlantic region. High-ranking officials, NGO representatives, experts from Ukraine, Germany, the US, and Ambassadors of EU member states are invited. Overall, 200 participants are expected at the conference.
The first day of the event will be opened with an introductory panel. During the second day, four focus panels cover the following topics:
● Political leadership in the transatlantic space
● Transatlantic economic integration: multiplying benefits
● Security synergies and political solidarity
● Energy security in the transatlantic agenda
