The Bush administration and the newly elected Democratic congressional leadership have pledged civility and bipartisanship in a new political landscape in which they must tackle difficult foreign policy issues. On December 6, 2006, the day of the release of the Iraq Study Group report, the Brookings Institution hosted a panel discussion with foreign policy experts to examine the causes and consequences of past foreign policy failures and successes, and offer alternatives to current national security policy.(Summary in German)
