Through the efforts of Resident Representative Dr. Stefanie Brinkel and Programme Coordinator Anastasia Rentzing, KAS PDWA engaged in discussions with both current and prospective partners regarding the feasibility of organizing future activities within the country. These discussions particularly emphasized capacity-building initiatives for youth and women, as well as for civil society organizations.
In relation to youth engagement, the delegates met with students who participated in the selection process for the KAS PDWA Master's Scholarship. The discussions proved fruitful, allowing for the collection of various perspectives from the students on a range of subjects.
A significant highlight was the personal audience granted to Dr. Brinkel and Ms. Rentzing by the President of the Republic, His Excellency Mr. Joseph Boakai. During this meeting, they presented KAS and PDWA, along with the various objectives of the Abidjan-based team's intended initiatives in Liberia, with a commitment to keep him informed of future developments.
The President expressed his satisfaction with the presence of the two delegates and commended the initiatives undertaken by KAS PDWA in the planning of these activities.
Liberia is one of the six countries served by KAS PDWA. Unlike Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, and Togo—where KAS PDWA has a long-standing presence—Liberia, along with Guinea and Sierra Leone, has only recently benefited from the foundation's initiatives, with a slightly greater focus on Guinea.
In these three countries, particularly the two English-speaking nations, our activities primarily address economic issues, civic education initiatives, and, of course, our master's scholarship program.
