The activity allowed the special delegates to understand their mission and the place of civil society actors at their side, to have civil society actors better informed on the new challenges of local development including climate change, and to strengthen the capacities of elected officials in setting up and managing projects.
The workshop began with the presentation of the new municipalities and their economic opportunities, the activities carried out, the municipal projects. Subsequently, the invited experts discussed the legal and institutional framework of local authorities, their financing, the role of civil society in local development, sustainable development and climate change, project setting up and management techniques, as well as decentralized cooperation, not to mention the opportunities and challenges.
The workshop was attended by members of special delegations, civil society representatives, representatives of elders, youth and women, resource persons and journalists.
Face au peuple Guinée 2024 was organized by the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) Regional Program for Political Dialogue in West Africa (PDWA), led by Resident Representative Dr. Stefanie Brinkel and Program Manager Théodore Golli, in partnership with Guinea's Initiative pour la prospective économique et le développement durable (IPED), led by Mamadou Hafiziou Barry.
