The meeting, led by the director of the programme, Dr. Stefanie Brinkel, also resident representative of the Abidjan office, was officially opened by the German ambassador to Togo, HE Mr Matthias Veltin, and attended by many partners and guests from Togo, France and the United States.
After Dr Stefanie Brinkel's speech, Mr Ouro-Bossi Tchakondo, former minister and president of a Togolese civil society organisation, COPED, gave an overview of the state of democracy in the country, before the official opening of the cocktail by Ambassador Matthias Veltin. It was an opportunity for everyone to get to know each other and to exchange views on political, economic and social issues.
Among the guests were political, administrative and traditional authorities, KAS scholars, partners of the World Without Hunger (EWOH) programme, journalists and civil society members.
As a reminder, KAS Abidjan through PDWA covers Cote d'Ivoire, Benin, Togo, Guinea, and is gradually integrating Liberia and Sierra Leone.
