Trump’s Foreign Policy
Trump's "America First" foreign policy aims to overcome international systems that, in his view, disadvantage the USA. That has led him to propose actions such as the takeover of Greenland or the Panama Canal. However, according to foreign policy observers, many of the Trump administration's goals appear contradictory: higher tariffs vs. lower prices, a retreat from the role of "world policeman" vs. maintaining a powerful global presence, and a tougher containment policy towards China vs. neglecting the alliances necessary for this.
