Country reports
Fayez Al-Saqa, member of the legislative council and Badran Jaber, member of the nationalist parties and social activist, stressed that the youth should strengthen their participation in the political decision making process and the role of the institutions for this process. The young generation should form pressure groups to send their messages to the parliament. Secretary member of the Democratic Youth Federation, Hashem Badareen, informed about the achievements that have been reached. Critical statements came from the founding member of the Palestinian Youth Parliament, Mo'amar Al-Owiwi when he talked about the challenges of an effective participation in the decision-making bodies. Moreover, voices of the audience claimed that the youth is disappointed trying to participate while they achieve too little recognition. New approaches have to be developed in order to find a real opportunity for the youth to take their seat in the political landscape. Additionally the youth doesn’t just want to participate in the political life but in all fields. At the end a lively discussion developed that can be seen as an indicator for the real interest of the youth in political matters.
The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung wants to thank the speakers and the audience that made this discussion possible as well as the local media that spread the announcement of the event.
