The event was opened by the official representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, Daniel Braun (via video address), and the Executive Director of AJM, Dragan Sekulovski, who emphasized the importance of this initiative in improving journalistic practices in the digital era. The workshop attracted journalists, media professionals, and experts who jointly explored how artificial intelligence (AI) can be integrated into newsrooms while maintaining ethical standards and journalist safety.
The program included interactive sessions and practical exercises led by Boris Ristovski, Martin Petrovski, and Suad Seferi. Participants explored fundamental concepts of media literacy, identified disinformation and manipulative content, and used AI tools for fact-checking and creating journalistic content. Legal aspects and ethical standards in the use of AI were also discussed.
On the second day, focus was placed on legal aspects and cybersecurity, with participants discussing techniques for protection against digital attacks, decentralized technologies such as Web3, and transparency in the use of AI. This session opened new perspectives for media professionals but also highlighted the need to adapt ethical standards to new digital circumstances.
The last day was dedicated to practical exercises where participants used AI tools such as ChatGPT and MidJourney for database analysis and creating original visual and textual content. Working on real-world scenarios allowed participants to apply newly acquired skills and gain practical insight into the advantages of digital technologies.
With this workshop, KAS and AJM reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the capacities of journalists and media professionals in North Macedonia. This initiative aims to enable responsible and innovative journalism that provides accurate, ethical, and secure information to the public, thus contributing to the advancement of the media sphere and democratic society.
