This following publication analyzes key trends in the development of the media in Ukraine from 2022 to 2024 and outlines changes in the activities of the Ukrainian press with the beginning of the full-scale invasion. The war, as a catalyst for changes in the Ukrainian media landscape, made significant adjustments to the work of traditional media, the activities of news outlets in the occupied territories as well as the preferences and demands of the Ukrainian society.
The analytical report on the Ukrainian media landscape is a project of the Academy of Ukrainian Press in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Stiftung in Ukraine, which was founded in 2010 with the aim of periodically reviewing and analyzing the state and trends of the Ukrainian media. This year's report appeared at an arguably the most crucial turning point for the activities of the Ukrainian media since the beginning of the project, as the full-scale war is being waged not only on the battlefield, but also in the media battlefield with the aim of spreading propaganda and disorienting the Ukrainian society. The publication carefully analyzes these processes on real examples and points out to the challenges that will continue to accompany the Ukrainian media space in the years to come.
The analytical report on the Ukrainian media landscape allows to understand and assess the following phenomena in the Ukrainian media space in 2022-2024:

  • The changing role of the media during the full-scale invasion;
  • Challenges of war for journalists and media structures;
  • Trends that will shape the media landscape in the coming years;
  • Main media preferences of Ukrainians in 2022-2024;
  • Techniques of Russian disinformation and ways of its detection;
  • The state of the Ukrainian periodical press, regional media and prospects for their development in the future.

Intended for journalists, political scientists, and everyone interested in the modern history of Ukraine
