We are very pleased to announce the launch of the study “Amazon Bioeconomy: Navigating Scientific Frontiers and Innovation Potentials”. The study carried out by Word-Transforming Technologies (WTT), with the participation of Agência Bori and support from the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Brazil, surveyed 1,070 scientific articles from the international Web of Science database from 2017 to 2021, revealing the scientific areas and Brazilian research institutions that produced the most studies on innovations from biocompounds produced by inputs from the Amazon with potential application in the local bioeconomy. Amongst these articles, 7 were selected bringing the most studied raw materials: açaí, tucumã, buriti, piper, aniba, castanha do brasil, andiroba, cupuaçu, guaraná e bacaba. The application of these products can be made in craft products, fabric manufacturing, fishing yarn and nets, cement composites for sustainable construction and biodegradable films. In addition to the survey results, the publication features five original analytical articles written by renowned researchers, managers and entrepreneurs in the area: Carina Pimenta, Júlia Sekula, Mariana Barrella, Ricardo Abramovay and Tatiana Schor. The authors write about the relationship between the bioeconomy, scientific and technological development and the preservation of the environment and job creation.
