A second Ukraine?

Belarus' upheaval and its regional implications

Within the framework of our joint European Party Monitor project, the European Office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung and KU Leuven regularly update the community of think tanks, foundations and political entities on the latest developments in Eastern Europe by publishing Party Passports and organizing workshops. Beyond that, the European Party Monitor offers a forum to discuss and analyze the implications of political and social events for individual countries, but also at a wider scale.

Ankündigung 20-10-27 Belarus upheaval and its regional implication

Since a few weeks, our eyes are on Belarus and our talks rotate around the future direction of the country. Illustrating the effect one country may have on its neighbors that are embedded in a fragile geopolitical order, the EU High Representative Josep Borrell recently warned that “Belarus should not become a second Ukraine”. Together with our experts from the region, we would like to follow-up on this statement and discuss Belarus’ status and future development from an all-round perspective.
