SUSTAINABILITY IN THE ATACAMA-LÍPEZ REGION: A FUTURE THAT COMPROMISES THREE COUNTRIES

The topic of the third and last seminar, held in Sucre, Bolivia the 2nd and 3rd of December was "Institutional models for sustainable water management in the region". Follow below the full report of the event, available in Spanish.

Following up on the first seminar of the Atacama-Lípez Series, held in Salta, Argentina in June, 2014 on "Water as a Scarce and Necessary Resource - Challenges for its Sustainable Use" and on the second seminar, held in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile in August, 2014 on "Production models and water resources for the region's development: the challenges of economic growth with environmental sustainability", the participants gathered again this December. In Sucre, Bolivia, discussions about "Institutional models for sustainable water management in the region" featured the debate of the third and last conference. The event was attended by prominent political actors and experts from the three countries (Argentina, Bolivia and Chile), who discussed the economic development of the Atacama region.
