The Workshop was attended by representatives from 10 Latin American countries, who work in their countries of origin in various positions in the public, private and academic sectors; which accounted for debates and the group works having different points of view from the national experience and the perspective of the sector in which they work, which enriched the debates at all times.
The Workshop also featured leading experts on energy and environmental issues: Mauricio Zaballa, OLADE consultant and main teacher of the diploma course; Daniel Bouille, from the Bariloche Foundation; Federico Canu, Ivana Audia and Tim Reutemann from the UNEP DTU Partnership.
The topics that were discussed in the Workshop were diverse, for example: The scope and importance of the Paris agreements from the geopolitical standpoint, the methodological tools for the implementation of the NDCs, the identification, formulation and prioritization of NAMA's, energy efficiency, climate finance, etc., all this with a theory and practice system.
As a result of this workshop, 3 participants were able to prepare NAMA´S (which can be read in the attached PDF) for implementation in Colombia, El Salvador and Uruguay, respectively; the rest of the participants having yet to make their own proposals or disseminate and multiply the knowledge acquired in the workshop for the achievement of the environmental goals in energy and the fight against climate change in their countries and the region.
Also, in the days prior to the Workshop, the EKLA-KAS Program participated as a collaborator of the "Regional Workshop of Experts on Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation in the Energy Sector of the Region of Latin America and the Caribbean" held in Lima, Peru, on May 25 and 26.
