The Dialogue was hold in the form of a series of web-seminar sessions across three subsequent days via virtual video-conference.
The event was opened by Keynote Speeches of the Ambassador of Indonesia to Germany, Arif Hafas Oegroseno and the Ambassador of Germany to Indonesia, Ina Lepel.
The Indonesian ambassador said in particular that the bilateral initiatives will play an important role in enforcing the implementation of the decisions are made in the G20. The German Government welcomes the decision of the Indonesian Government to put, the economic global recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic at the heart of its G-20 agenda under the guiding theme “Recover together, recover stronger” so the German ambassador.
First day of the dialogue produced discussions on economic recovery from the pandemic crisis. Dr. Susminto Special Staff of the Finance Ministry of Indonesia gave an insight on the Indonesian agenda for the G20 meeting for 2022. Dr. Yose Rizal, Senior Researcher of CSIS, pointed some challenges for Indonesia to deliver concrete G20 outcomes because of the diverse interest and perspectives of the members. At the end of the session mentioned Dr. Patrick Ziegenhain that both countries can give and significant contribution on global trade not only between the two countries but also through their respective global organization ASEAN and EU.
The second panel on the second day of Dialogue discussed the efforts to promote the agenda of sustainability inside the G20, as well as its problems and prospects. Dr. Sonny Mumbunan from the Research Centre of Climate Change of the University of Indonesia gave a reflection of the G20 sustainable road map from an Indonesian perspective. Novia Xu, from CSIS highlighted that there is the need to increase the commitment on the agreed points at G20 meetings on sustainability. The last speaker on this panel Dr. Christian Hübner Director of the Regional Programme Energy Security and Climate Change Asia Pacific of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung gave an idea in his presentation. how Germanys energy landscape could look like in 2045 in order to achieve climate neutrality
The third day and last day of the dialogue focused on the topic digitalization. Prof Bambang Permadi Soemantri Brodjonegoro former Minister of Research and Technology and President Commissary of Bukalapak.com spoke from the entrepreneur's perspective and showed the opportunities and challenges for Indonesian companies in the age of digitization. The second speaker, Director for Informatics Empowerment of the Ministry of Boni Pudjianto PhD. gave an overview of the indonesian government plan in developing the digital skills and literacy. The last speaker of this panel Dr. Pencho Kuzev, Senior Policy Advisor on Data Policy of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, put his focus of his presentation on the awareness of digitalization and on the regulation of big online platforms were he believes that all members of the G20 have the common challenges.
