With more than 200 participants from 30 different countries, the Security Forum was an event for leading experts, representatives of civil society, and decision-makers to discuss the latest challenges and solutions in the field of national and global security, as well as hybrid threats in the context of current conflicts in Europe and around the world. The forum was attended by the Croatian Minister for Foreign and European Affairs Minister Dr. Gordan Grlić Radman and Vice-President of the European Commission Dubravka Šuica (via video message). Grlić Radman emphasized the increasingly dangerous various types of crises affecting Europe. He stated that “we need to focus on all these crises and seek solutions through the collaboration of NATO and the EU as fundamental organizations for collective defense and security, as well as value-based organizations united around the core values of the rule of law, human rights, and democracy. This democracy includes the right of every state to independence, sovereignty, and respect for territorial integrity.” In the context of new threats to modern societies, the forum particularly highlighted the importance of combating the effects of misinformation and the spread of disinformation that negatively impact the information space. In panel discussions, participants exchanged new experiences, insights, and ideas, opening space for innovative solutions to complex security threats through several main thematic areas: NATO and EU Cooperation; Integration of Abilities on National and Regional Level; Women in Security and Defense; Critical Infrastructure Protection; Disinformation and Hybrid Threats; Young Researchers Forum i Future Challenges and Joint Responses: Concluding Discussions. These topics included discussions on the importance of strengthening cooperation between NATO and the European Union as key actors in building a more resilient future. The joint efforts of NATO and the EU in addressing hybrid threats were discussed, including the defense strategy of Ukraine and the social resilience of its neighboring countries. The importance of women's contributions to security and defense sciences was highlighted, with a particular focus on challenges and opportunities in military missions. Strategies to strengthen societal resilience and the security of supply chains, as well as innovative approaches to protecting critical infrastructures, were discussed. Various approaches to combating disinformation and its malign effects, including the declaration of new communication technologies, were analyzed.
