Dr. Khalil Shikaki, director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PCPSR) together with Simon Engelkes, Director of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) in Ramallah, presented the results and data of the 92nd public opinion poll conducted in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip between May 26 and June 1 2024, during a meeting that brought together a number of journalists, international organizations and local civil society.
The period prior to the poll witnessed the continuation and expansion of the war on the Gaza Strip, to include the ground offensive in the outskirts of the city of Rafah in the southern Gaza Strip, the occupation of the Rafah crossing with Egypt, the control of the Salah al-Din Corridor, also known as Philadelphia Corridor, and the return of the Israeli army to occupy Jabalia and other areas in the northern Gaza Strip.
The sample size of this poll was 1570 adults, of whom 760 were interviewed face-to-face in the West Bank (in 76 residential locations) and 750 in the Gaza Strip (in 75 locations). Due to the uncertainty about the exact population size and distribution at that moment in the Gaza Strip, we almost doubled the sample size in that area in order to reduce the margin of error. The total sample was reweighted to reflect the actual relative size of the population in the two Palestinian areas. Thus, the sample used is representative of the entire populations of the two regions. The margin of error stands at +/-3%.
