Against the background of the palestinian bid for accession to the United Nations, this visit is also of interest to him as Member of the European Parliament (EP) and Chairman of the EP's Working Group on the Middle East.
During his visit, Dr. Pöttering will meet with the palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Salam Fayyad and Dr. Khalil Shikaki, Director of the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research (PSR), amongst others.
