German journalists meet Palestinian entrepreneurs and journalists to talk politics and technology

The office of Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Palestine received a group of German journalists under 30 as part of a delegation visiting the region with the European Leadership Network (ELNET). The group spent half a day in Ramallah and met with Palestinian entrepreneurs and young journalists.

The day began with an in depth briefing by our office director, Marc Frings who spoke about the political and economic reality in Palestine and touched upon some of the latest developments in the region. The group had a chance to exchange thoughts and ideas with Mr Frings and learn a little bit more about the different reality in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and East Jerusalem.

Then the delegation met with an inspiring group in an inspiring space, Fikra - Paltel Group Innovation Hub where its managing director Laith Kassis, along with our partners Lama Amr from BuildPalestine and Rand Safi from Gaza Sky Geeks and lastly Imam Hithnawi from Flow, an emerging entrepreneurship project, gave a comprehensive overview of their work and the ecosystem in Palestine.

The meeting started with each speaker representing her or his organization giving a 10-minute presentation about their work, the challenges they face and learnt lessons that would transcend borders and be utilized by entrepreneurs from all parts of the world. The presentations were followed by a lively and informal discussion where the journalists asked questions that covered politics, economy and everyday life in Palestine.

German and Palestinian journalists share views on journalism, life in Palestine and the politics of the region
Finally, the young German journalists met with Palestinian journalists who shared insights about journalism, life in Palestine and the politics of the region. Ghaida Hamouda, a multimedia journalist and feminist and Ali Ghaith, an East Jerusalem journalist and writer met with the group and answered their questions and shared stories from their everyday life as journalists working in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
