Over the last decades, information and communication technologies (ICTs) have been a great incentive tool for global trade in modern services, which have generated growth opportunities in the development of economies worldwide.
Together, the UN Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (CEPAL) and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation, through its Regional Programme Alliances for Democracy and Development with Latin America (ADELA), presented the book: "Governance and export performance of modern services in Latin America and India". This economic report analyses the design of sectoral policies focused on the promotion of modern services in eight Latin American countries (Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Peru, Uruguay) and India.
The publication takes into account the experiences of each of the countries in the area of modern services exports from, as well as the development of public policies and governance in the promotion of these services. Among the results of this research, it can be highlighted how the interaction between public and private actors, as well as with the academic sector, generates a greater impact on the development of the industry. At the same time, it was proven necessary to focus on the need to strengthen areas such as institutions and governance in the region. This can be accomplished through improvements in the creation and implementation of public policies, with the aim of fostering progress in the development of modern services in Latin America and the Caribbean.
