The Rule of Law Programme Asia conducted its third round of the annual Environment Law Talks in the region – this year the three-part talks were held in the Philippines, Indonesia and Vietnam respectively.
Following the positive feedback to the previous Environment Talks of 2013 and taking forward the discussions on the future outlook towards current environmental concerns in South-east Asia - it was largely gauged that a common challenge faced in the region is the need to strengthen environmental enforcement mechanisms within the framework of various Environmental statutes, policies and multi-stakeholder responses.
The 2014 Environment Law Talks has thus been focused on the concept of Environmental enforcement mechanisms, with our respective partners streamlining the theme to a country-specific approach. The first of the Environment Law Talks was held in Cebu in the month of May in co-operation with the University of Cebu. The Indonesian workshop in Jakarta followed and the concluded in Hanoi, Vietnam.
