Specialist conference
Details
The war in Ukraine has sharpened our security and defence policy focus on Eastern Europe. The heads of state and government of the former communist states - above all Poland and Romania - had already sounded the alarm after the annexation of Crimea and institutionalised their concern about Russia in the "B9" (Bucharest 9) format and the "Three Seas Initiative" (3SI). Both formats continue to grow in regional importance. The Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung (KAS) would like to shed light on these and generally bring more information about security and defence policy developments in Romania and the South of Eastern Europe to the German public. For this reason, we invite journalists to Romania in the period 17-19 May 2023 for a dialogue programme focusing on security and defence policy. The group will meet decision-makers of the Romanian government (Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Foreign Affairs), security advisors, defence experts from the region and participate in the most important local security and defence policy conference "Black Sea and Balkans Security Forum 2023" in Bucharest. We also plan to visit the largest NATO airbase in the region (Mihail Kogălniceanu) on the Black Sea.Program
