Details
Key note speaker was Dr. Rainer Hermann, senior Middle East editor of the German daily newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) and authour of various books and monographies. He was foreign correspondent in Abu Dhabi and Ankara/Istanbul covering the Middle East.
Mr. Majid Rezapanah, advisor of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran, gave a second key input on Iran’s Afghanistan Policy and its engagement in the Afghan peace process.
Further participants were invited from Thank tanks, foreign diplomatic missions, civil society and media.
The Roundtable discussion is part of the KAS Roundtable Series 2019 on “The Afghan Peace Process in Regional Perspective”. The goal of this series is to shed light on the roles and perspectives of the regional countries engaged in the Afghan peace process. The roundtable series aims to unite different voices and perspectives on the discussion table.
During his visit in Afghanistan, Dr. Hermann conducted numerous interviews in Kabul and Herat with government representatives, diplomats, researchers, activists, Think tanks and representatives of international organisations to cover recent developments in the Afghan peace process.
