Workshop
Details
The World Wide Web has, facilitated by the rapid spread of web-enabled mobile phones opened completely new dimensions for political parties and their political communication with members, followers and potential voters. The fact that political messages reach their (potential) supporters even in remote regions of the country quickly and easily as well as cost-effective is just one advantage. Social media are also a channel which offers the possibility of two-way-communication, i.e. voters can react and send an immediate feedback to politicians or political parties, and express their wishes and expectations directly.
At the same time, the use of the internet and social media in political communication processes creates new challenges for political parties. The web and new applications are evolving rapidly and it requires tireless efforts to keep up with that speed. Furthermore, communication experts have to screen and check the social networks permanently in order to react and rectify on time wrong information and rumours concerning the own messages. A constant monitoring as well as updating and maintaining of websites and social media is therefore of great importance.
Christian Echle, social media expert and head of the regional media programm of KAS, will inform the participants on all related matters and answer relevant questions. The participants will take this opportunity to evaluate the current stand of the online communication activities of CHADEMA and discuss new trends and ideas for further improvement.
Participation is on invitation only.
