More than 25 IR experts and lecturers coming from different institutions in Vietnam such as USSH in Ho Chi Minh and Hanoi, the University of the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam, Hue University, Thu Dau Mot University and Duy Tan University Da Nang gathered together to discuss and contribute to the prospective syllabus of the “Politics of Globalization” course.
The main speakers Dr Patrick Tim Ziegenhain and Dr Muhammad S. Rahman, two lectures from the President University Indonesia, were invited to Ho Chi Minh to propose a sample syllabus, highlighting various teaching methods, and giving their expertise concerning the “Politics of Globalization”. The discussions were not only valuable for the USSHHCM to create their program but were also an opportunity for the participants of the other institutions to share their perspectives on teaching Globalization and Politics while taking references from other people. The workshop was characterized by vibrant discussions and an interactive atmosphere. It was the first of five phases of the two-years-project and was a great occasion to talk about an urgent theme of IR. In the next step, Vietnamese professors and experts will evaluate and revise the final version of the syllabus and adapt it to the standard curriculum of IR in Vietnam.
