This year, the Indonesian Youth Democratic Forum (IYDF) brought together 20 selected young leaders and politically engaged citizens from different regions of Indonesia to discuss the country's democratic future and share their visions for a strong and sustainable democracy in Indonesia.
The IYDF was organized in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Indonesia and the Foreign Policy Community of Indonesia (FPCI) and was the second event since the cooperation with FPCI, the largest foreign policy community in Southeast Asia, started last year.
The first day of the event was dedicated to discussion and exchange. The participants discussed the challenges and opportunities of Indonesian democracy in various panels. They were accompanied by experienced moderators and experts and had the opportunity to exchange ideas to develop new perspectives.
On the second day, the participants had the special opportunity to present a letter to the newly elected President, Parbowo Subianto, who will take office next October, to the public and the numerous media present. In this letter, they presented their collective thoughts, concerns and proposals to bring the most important issues and concerns of the youth to the attention of the country's political leadership. This public letter symbolized the commitment and responsibility of the young generation to actively participate in shaping their future and raise their voices in Indonesia's political landscape.
The Indonesian Youth Democratic Forum was thus not only a platform for exchange and discussion, but also an important step towards a more inclusive and participatory democracy in Indonesia.
