It is an all-day event with the following activities:
Panel discussion on the topic “The future of EU enlargement – What are the benefits for North Macedonia and the European Union?”. The panel discussion envisages the participation of political representatives from the country, representatives of the diplomatic corps, academia, students and other stakeholders.
An opening address as a key note speaker in the frame of the event will give H.E. Stevo Pendarovski, President of the Republic of North Macedonia.
The panel discussion will be attended by the following speakers:
H.E. David Geer, Head of Delegation of the European Union
H.E. Ami Larsson Jain, Ambassador of Sweden
Monika Zajkova, President of Liberal Democratic Party / MP
Afrim Gashi, President of Alternativa / MP
Timco Mucunski, Vice-President of VMRO-DPMNE / Mayor of the Municipality of Aerodrom
The event will be opened by Mileva Gjurovska, President of the European Movement, Daniel Braun, Official Representative of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation and the Senior Event Officer at the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies Katerina Jakimovska.
The panel discussion will be moderated by Andrej Lepavcov, Former Ambassador to the European Union.
The second part of the event will be organized as a Youth Club within which it will be held Oratory Competition on the topic "Talking with Europe”, with participation of students from different universities in North Macedonia; Youth Debate on the topic “Talking with Europe about my European future" as well as EU Knowledge Quiz, with participation of high school students from the high schools in City of Skopje.
At this event, the plaque for European Person of the Year will be awarded, which the European Movement traditionally is awarding for more than 20 years to people who promote the European values in North Macedonia, but also to people who promote the country in Europe and the world.
The working languages of the event are Macedonian, Albanian, English and German (with simultaneous interpretation provided).
Celebration of Europe Day – 9 May will be held on 18 May (Thursday) starting at 11.00 in Ragusa Rooftop (Parking garage "26 July", St. Cyril and Methodius No. 1).
