Governing, "not leading a circus": How Labour leader Keir Starmer wants to win the UK election

"He (Starmer) promotes business friendliness but tries to maintain a balance with the working population," says Matthias Barner from the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung. However, this only seems to work because Starmer remains increasingly vague. "Whether he will manage to maintain this position within his party and with the trade unions in the long term if he takes on government responsibility is another matter," says Barner.

Facts, Fakes, and Black Humor: The Election Campaign in the United Kingdom

This began – how very British – an exciting and quite entertaining election campaign with political tension, mutual discrediting, plenty of misinformation, and a bit of British humor. Only the Labour Party – the British Social Democrats – really have reason to laugh. They have been leading all the polls by a wide margin for months. Their top candidate, Keir Starmer, enjoys very comfortable leadership ratings. Lukas Wick, who works at the London office of the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, explains in the Tech Briefing podcast: "Many voters have already decided who they will vote for over the past year and a half – and it's not the Tories."
